The Use of the Car

Another guideline for the DMV to determine a vehicle as a classic is the use of the car. It must not be used for general use and daily commutes, but used for club and as a collector’s item. Driving a classic car in parades, tours, and car shows is prohibited as classic use of the car and not applicable to daily driving.

If you want to have your car identified as a classic car, it must also be in great condition. It must be restored or well-maintained in its original condition. it cannot be modified and changed too much from the factory settings and original design. The purpose of classic is to maintain what it used to be, not how it keeps up with current vehicles and trends.
